Art Evening Get Together: Thursday 18th Sept.

My name is Elaine and as the newest member of the CAAS Committee I’d like to invite you to come along to an art evening at your Art Shed.

When: Thursday 18th September – 7.00pm

Why:  To meet with members of CAAS and enjoy a DVD or two on the amazing life of Margaret Olley

Where: At the CAAS Art Shed, 10 Crispe Street (off Brown St)

What to bring: Something to drink and a few nibbles

“It’s the only thing I like doing,” says Margaret Olley, in her studio in Sydney’s Paddington, of her painting. The artist, who turns 83 this month, has been named a Companion of the Order of Australia. Photo: Steven Siewert, The Age June 12, 2006

This will be the first of our planned Art Evenings this season and our aim is to meet regularly on the 3rd Thursday of the month. It will be low-key with the desired outcome of sharing some company based around our common interest in art. You are welcome to bring a friend too.

We will discuss future evenings and the sort of activities/content that members would like to focus on. These might include: an art video or critique of a masterpiece; something recorded from an art programs on SBS/ABC or indeed something you’d like to share from your collection. CAAS has a range of DVDs that demonstrate various art techniques that might be of interest. The choice is ultimately yours.

So, rather than only meeting at the occasional Art Awards, lets get together and have some relaxing fun with art! We all have a story to tell and an art journey to share. Our society is all of us, not simply the committee!

No RSVP is required, just turn up! If you cannot make this opening evening then simply try for another (go to the link below for details of future evenings)

Hope to meet many of you over coming weeks.

Haha Geoff. My preference is always for something far more ‘meaty’. But we went with an easy-watch for openers. It’s still very interesting. Hope to see you! Mark

Thanks for the feedback, and your desire to join our town & community Linda. We have a listing in the Alice Springs Town Council Community Calendar. You might expect the Information Centre to be aware, and consult it. Seems not so. I will follow-up. Feedback like this is always gratefully received. Yes, please keep in touch. Did you post your email address on our page and become a Facebook Friend, if this is your ‘thing’?
