Movies for 2015 April 30th – ‘Alice Neel’ (Alice Neel info) Alice Neel one of the great American artists of the twentieth century. A painter of people, landscape and still life.
June 25th – ‘William Robinson, A Painter’s Journey’ (William Robinson info) ” A Painter’s Journey” presents the artist and his work from the early farmyard paintings to the quiet still life paintings drawn from his Brisbane house and garden. Multiple Archibald and ‘Wynne Prize winner. The book ‘William Robinson’ is available to borrow from the CAAS library.
Aug 27th – Rothko’s Rooms (You Tube trailer) … chronicles the life of Mark Rothko and development of his art with contributions from his daughter, son, friends, artists, art historians.
Oct 29th – Paula Rego (Paula Rego info) … Portuguese artist who is best known for her paintings based on storybooks. She has favoured pastels over oils and her style has evolved from abstract towards representational.
Dec 31st – Paradise Found (YouTube trailer) The life of Paul Gauguin starring Keifer Sutherland and Nastassia Kinski.
