IMPORTANT

Special CAAS General Meeting Sunday 27 November 2022, 2 pm

The purpose of Special General Meeting is to amend The CAAS constitution.

This will assist in our application to register THE CENTRAL AUSTRALIAN ART SOCIETY INCORPORATED) (ABN 82 929 959 908) as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).

Background

The Federal Government is requiring Incorporated Associations to become registered as a charity to maintain the Tax Deductibility status we currently can offer to donors.

The Special General Meeting will be asked to approve a special resolution to change the ‘Objects and Purposes’ of the Association in the CAAS Constitution.

The current Object and Purposes is:-

"The advancement of art and artists in Central Australia"

The proposed new Object and Purposes is:-

"The Central Australian Art Society Inc. is established to be a charity whose purpose is to advance the culture of Central Australian people by providing for the instruction, participation, development and promotion of visual art."

A copy of the revised constitution is available at the ArtShed.

I hope that many members and supporters can come, or at least register a proxy vote with me, to ensure a quorum and enable the change to happen.
